Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about your iris photography experience.

Safety & Comfort

Is iris photography safe?

Yes. Iris photography is completely safe and non-invasive. We use specialist equipment designed specifically for iris photography, with controlled lighting and no physical contact with the eye.

Will you touch my eye?

No — there is no contact with the eye at any point. You simply rest your head comfortably while we photograph your iris from a safe distance.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes. Iris photography is suitable for children, and we regularly photograph young children as well as adults. We guide the process gently and take our time to ensure everyone feels comfortable. Recommended youngest being 4 years old

Is the light uncomfortable?

The light used is brief and carefully controlled. Most people describe it as no more uncomfortable than having a photo taken with a camera flash.

Can I take part if I wear glasses or contact lenses?

Yes. Glasses are removed for the photograph. Contact lenses can usually remain in, but we may ask you to remove them if they interfere with image quality or if they are coloured.

The Session

How long does a session take?

Sessions are quick and relaxed. Photographing each eye typically takes just a few minutes, even for families or groups.

What happens during the session?

You’ll be guided through the entire process.

Your iris is photographed using specialist equipment in a comfortable, relaxed setting.

We’ll answer any questions as we go.

Do I need to prepare anything beforehand?

No preparation is needed. Simply arrive at your booked time — or walk in if availability allows.

Can multiple people attend together?

Absolutely. Couples, families, and groups are welcome. Multiple irises can be photographed during the same session and combined into a single artwork if you wish.

Do you photograph both eyes?

Yes. You can choose to photograph one eye or both eyes, depending on the experience you select. Price is per eye but you can select the eye you would like to go ahead with on your artwork.

Artwork & Results

What do I receive after the session?

Every experience includes:

  • Professional iris photography
  • Artistic editing
  • A high-resolution digital artwork

You can then choose how you’d like to display your artwork.

Can multiple irises be combined into one artwork?

Yes.

Do I have to decide on prints or acrylics on the day?

No.

There is no pressure to decide on the day.

All sizes, finishes and styles are chosen after your session, once your artwork is ready.

Can I make changes after viewing my artwork?

Your artwork is professionally edited as a finished piece. Minor refinements are rarely needed, but we always aim to ensure you’re happy with the final result.

What effects are available?

We offer a curated selection of signature artistic effects, chosen for their visual impact and timeless style. You’ll be able to select your preferred effect after viewing your artwork. See the effects in our gallery page.

Booking is recommended, especially on busy days and weekends, to guarantee your time slot. Walk-ins are welcome when availability allows.

Are walk-ins welcome?

Yes. If we have availability, we’re happy to accommodate walk-ins.

Is payment taken when booking?

No. No payment is taken when booking. You’ll view your artwork first and choose how you’d like to display it after your session.

Pricing is based on the number of eyes photographed. All experiences include professional photography and artistic finishing. Full pricing details are available on our Pricing page.

Can I bring additional family members?

Yes. Additional family members can be included, and extra eyes can be added to your artwork if desired.

Why is iris photography priced this way?
